TOP 4 ANTICIPATED RELEASES OF 2019

Last year I read very few 2018 releases (read: one) and whilst I don’t generally fixate on new releases a lot anyway, I do like to read some. So, I thought I would share with you guys 4 books which I am waiting to read when they come out this year!

12.03: The Bird King by G Willow Wilson

This looks like it will be a fascinating fantasy story, mixing elements which I love (like Jinn) with things I have never read about before (such as Muslim Spain).

“…a stunning new novel that tells the story of Fatima, a concubine in the royal court of Granada, the last emirate of Muslim Spain, and her dearest friend Hassan, the palace mapmaker…” (Goodreads)

02.04: Descendant of the Crane by Joan He

The author described this as a Chinese drama minus the girl-on-girl hate and competing harems, which sounds pretty good to me. I love reading fantasy which incorporate a distinct culture (such as historical China in this case), so I’m keeping my eye out for this one.

“Tyrants cut out hearts. Rulers sacrifice their own.

Princess Hesina of Yan has always been eager to shirk the responsibilities of the crown, but when her beloved father is murdered, she’s thrust into power, suddenly the queen of an unstable kingdom. Determined to find her father’s killer, Hesina does something desperate: she engages the aid of a soothsayer—a treasonous act, punishable by death… because in Yan, magic was outlawed centuries ago…” (Goodreads)

03.09: Crescent City by Sarah J. Maas

Okay, so this doesn’t have a cover yet and the ^^release date is not definite yet, but I honestly can’t wait for this!!!!!!!!!!

“Set in a world where humans struggle to survive amid intricate hierarchies of demons, shifters, angels, and countless other magical creatures, Crescent City tells the story of half-human, half-Sidhe Bryce Quinlan. After the brutal slaying of her best friend, Bryce joins forces with a powerful warrior-angel to hunt down the killer, leading them toward a treacherous enemy that could destroy the fabric of their world.

The series will feature an array of captivating new characters, including a spitfire heroine who will stop at nothing to avenge her friend and protect her vibrant city, an epic world on the brink of war, and Maas’ signature heart-pounding romance.” (Goodreads)

05.11: The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

42730332

I’ve been needing this book since I finished reading The Night Circus to be honest. I can’t wait to see what Erin’s new book will be like!!!

“Zachary Ezra Rawlins is a graduate student in Vermont when he discovers a strange book hidden in the library stacks. As he turns the pages, entranced by tales of lovelorn prisoners, key collectors, and nameless acolytes, he reads something strange: a story from his own childhood.

Bewildered by this inexplicable book and desperate to make sense of how his own life came to be recorded, Zachary uncovers a series of clues — a bee, a key, and a sword — that lead him to a masquerade party in New York, to a secret club, and through a doorway to a subterranean library, hidden far below the surface of the earth…” (Goodreads)

So that’s it for today! What 2019 releases are you looking forward to?! Be sure to let me know what I’m missing out on. Happy reading, Keira x.

P.S. Who else keeps writing the date as 2019?!

Hi! I'm Keira and I'm the author here at Headphones and Hyperboles. It's nice to meet you :) I like to read and listen to music (obviously), but I also really like sleeping, eating chocolate and going out to eat with friends.

  1. I feel you on the whole not fixating on new releases thing — I’m not really up-to-date on that tbh, so I’m always glad to read others posting about new releases because that’s how I get most of my news, haha! But anyways, The Starless Sea sounds so good! I just added it to my TBR; I can’t wait to see your thoughts on it 🙂

  2. I haven’t heard of any of these books but that is probably just because I am a little out of touch with the reading world atm, lovely post though and will definitely be adding some of these books to my TBR.
